2017 Buckley Fun Day HORSESHOE PITCHING TOURNAMENT June 17, 2017, 9:00 a.m.
NEW to Buckley Fun Day this year is the
Buckley Fun Day HORSESHOE PITCHING TOURNAMENT!
If you pine for the good old days of hanging out in the back yard, pitching horseshoes, and
sharing a good time with others, your wait is over!
Whether you are a seasoned pitcher or new to the sport, ALL are welcome to
come out and compete to become
The 2017 Buckley Fun Day HORSESHOE PITCHING WORLD CHAMPION!
The tournament will be a single elimination tournament. A bracket will be set up before the tournament begins based on registrants. The maximum registration will be set at 16 participants (individuals, not teams), so don’t wait to register and risk being left out! There will be several sets of horseshoes available if needed, but feel free to bring your favorite set if you have one (so long as they are in specs according to NHPA!)
Please note the following rules of play for the Tournament:
Contestants must be at least 12 years old to participate. Per NHAP, men will throw from the 37’ foul line, women from the 27’ foul line, and youth from 12-18 will be allowed to throw from the 27’ foul line.
Scoring: This will be a “COUNT ALL” scoring tournament. (In count-all scoring, both contestants receive credit for the points they score in each inning.) Ringers will count for 3 points and shoes “in count” (within 6 inches of the stake) will count for 1 point. (There is no special scoring for “leaners,” as they will be considered “in count,” and will have a value of 1 point.
Length of Game: Each game will continue until 40 points are scored or 40 shoes are thrown.
Breaking of Ties: A tie will be broken by a 2 inning tie-breaker round (or additional 2-inning rounds until the tie is broken).
Elimination: The tournament will be a SINGLE ELIMINATION tournament. The winner of each game will continue on to play the next round made up of contestants that have won their respective games. This will continue until a champion is crowned.
All rules will be enforced as found in the NHAP Rule Book.
